 Youths from Benue are not political thugs, says Alia

The governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has urged anybody who disparage the state's youths by labeling them as thugs to immediately retract their statements and stop doing so.


After returning from an official visit to the United States of America, the governor made the announcement in Government House Makurdi on Friday. A large number of young people turned out to greet him.

Speaking to the groups, the governor insisted that labels such as "thugs" are unjust and that the state as a whole is being negatively tarnished by them. He stressed that the industrious youth of the state deserve better.


Any remarks that are detrimental to the state's reputation and those of its highly honorable citizens will be taken seriously by this administration.
